My Birthday

Fri Dec 4, 2009, 11:34 PM

Was awesome! It went something like this:

:bulletred:4:00am: Couldn't sleep because of my sore throat so I just said screw it and woke up. John gave me my presents: Star Trek the special, 2-disc (in an awesome Enterprise ship thingy no less) and a green filter for the macro lens we have. Since I do most of the macro photography it was awesome. I'm getting him a red filter for Christmas. =)

:bulletred: 8:00am: Went to Yukon Jack's. It's an awesome little country-style restaurant that serves the best breakfast. I still have leftovers, now that I think of it. :meow:

:bulletred: 10:00am: Wandered around the foothills near Clovis a bit. We ran across some gorgeous horses and took some pictures. The thing that worries us about those horses is the fact that they were incredibly skittish and had a lot of dirt in their shoes. I'm no horse-care expert but I do know you're supposed to clean their shoes out routinely. John said one of the horses was limping a little, too. I hope they're not suffering from negligence and, if they are, something is done about it.

:bulletred: 12-ish: We watched All About Steve, starring Sandra Bullock. It was a cute movie and had a pretty deep meaning (for a semi-romantic comedy).

:bulletred: 2:30pm: Ate lunch/dinner at California Wok, my favorite local restaurant.

:bulletred: 3:30-6:40: Took a wonderful nap.

:bulletred: 7:25pm: Watched Julie and Julia. It was an equally cute movie and it had a surprising twist. Well, as surprising a twist as that type of movie can provide.

:bulletred: 10-ish: Went home, made spaghetti, ate it, then slept wonderfully.

Throughout the entire time I was drugged up on DayQuil. :XD:. That stuff is magic.

Love you guys! I'll be in Templeton tomorrow all day so if you have any friends there, tell them to go to the Templeton Park and buy something from us!

This Stupid Sore Throat

Tue Dec 1, 2009, 3:48 PM

could not have come at a worse time! My birthday is on Thursday. On top of that, we work on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I seriously pray this sore throat doesn't mutate into strep throat. :ohnoes:

With that being said, I'm behind in schoolwork (again). Wedding plans, selling things all over California (mostly Central California), and household chores take up the majority of the day. By the time I can actually do schoolwork I'm fried. =(

On the semi-plus side, I got my SAT scores back: I got 660 in Critical Reading, 490 in Math (fail), and 610 in Writing. Anyone know if the SAT even uses an overall score anymore? I can't seem to find one...

$13

Sun Nov 29, 2009, 3:06 AM

Is all we made on Friday because it rained for half the day and then got too cold for the rest of the evening for anyone to shop outdoors. Which was too bad because I thought River Park would've been better than Manchester Mall; we made $24 on our first day at Manchester and that was our second Friday at River Park. How sad.

Moving On
We bought our Christmas tree and set up our ornaments (mostly). Two days after Thanksgiving and our tree is bought and up. It's a cute little 6-footer we bought at Cobbs Ranch for $18! I'll be sure to post pictures later.

This December is my one year engagement anniversary with John. Can y'all believe we've been engaged for a whole year and are getting married in April? It's so close but so far at the same time! Oh, my birthday is December third so be sure to buy a copy of Intimate Journey as a favor! Actually, I'd rather have a sub. :meow:. Or just a hug and well-wishes will do. Man, I'm horrible. John already bought me two soundtracks for my birthday: The Holiday and Gladiator. Both are by Hans Zimmer. That man is a genius. We also bought the Star Trek soundtrack but that was a little disappointing. I only like three or four of the songs. The rest are carbon copies of one another. Hans Zimmer should've done the scores!

But I can't explain how happy I am to have soundtrack music. Music fuels the mood I'm writing, how I write it, and how passionately I feel about it. Having more soundtrack music--more melody and zero lyrics (except for Lisa Gerrard's awesome vocals in the Gladiator soundtrack)--makes it so much easier to write and write freely. I truly, deeply love music. I wish I could express that in the depth that I feel it, I really do...

Our Next Venue
River Park (again): Friday, Dec. 4th
Templeton, December 5th
Thank God we aren't working on my birthday; Mom always had to do that and I have a huge aversion for it. Anyway, if you're at either place come buy something from us. We have $1 buttons--and I know everyone has at least $1!

I Really Need to Go to Sleep
John's snoring next to me even as I type this. God, I love that man. He makes my life so bright and fills me with that rainbow-just-after-the-rain feeling all the time. I am truly blessed.

Love you guys!

Been Vending

Tue Nov 24, 2009, 9:22 PM

Not at a machine, but at venues throughout Fresno. Soon, we expand to Templeton and, possibly, Morro Bay. Our first time at River Park was a total failure, mostly because it decided to rain. The one day out of the month that we actually get rain is the day we're selling stuffs. Go figure.
Managed to Break Even
At Manchester Mall last weekend. If any of you know anything about Manchester Mall you'd know that's an effing miracle. Still, the fact that we actually made back the $75 we put in instead of counting it as a loss makes me feel happy. We're on the right track. Ironically, we sold 5 copies of Intimate Journey: Battle Scars and 4 frames of poetry art. We thought God told us to sell poetry art but then remembered He said that writing would be our main source of income. Didn't think He meant it that literally but that's God for you. Awesome, as always. =). And yes, I have conversations with God.
Next Venue: Friday
At River Park. Hopefully this time we'll get clear weather. If you know anyone in the Fresno area, tell them to stop by; our prices might be the only good deals they'll get on Black Friday because Black Friday is a total scam. In my opinion, of course. ^^;
With that Being Said
I'll give a more in-depth and less headlined journal later; I'm tired and the headlines keep my brain straight.

Love,
=Amriah

Star Trek

Thu Nov 19, 2009, 4:48 PM

Is awesome
J.J. Abrams did a great job.
Been Busy
My mom just left to go back to Houston; she was here from Saturday 'til last Wednesday. I miss her and she managed to help me find a set way for college and my wedding! We're moving the latter to Houston because we want to avoid John's family and we have no friends here. I, however, have an entire family begging me to have the wedding in a place they can go--home. So, we're planning on having it at my old middle school. I spent 9 years at that place; it is very beloved.

As for college, we went to California State University Fresno on Monday, I think. We took a tour, found out some great things, and I was sold. It was cheaper than the previous school I wanted to go to and far superior. Their library was brand new and had 4 floors. :giggle:. I wanted to get lost in it right then and there but contained myself. So, the plan is to go to city college for basics then to Fresno State as they call it for my BA in English then my MFA in Creative Writing. I'll be a Bulldog... I hate bulldogs. I want to give them all inhalers and facial reconstruction. :XD:
In Other News
Adverbs are a pain! I'm in a distance education program. In essence, I am both teacher and student. This can be very hard and frustrating. I can't afford a tutor; my mother has been gracious enough to pay for the program itself and I won't impose on that kindness by asking for more cash. The program does state that you can e-mail your teachers to ask questions, but they generally take days to reply and answer a question with a question (ex: what is an adverb? The reply would be something along the lines of "what kind of questions should you ask to find an adverb?"). I don't ask questions unless I am truly stumped. Answering a question with a question so I can simply refer to my textbook (which I have already scoured countless times for the answer) is pathetic. What happened to teaching? Sure, I'm in a distance program but teaching is still possible. These teachers say to either get a tutor or re-read the book or guess. Guess! Stupid high school...
Friday Night
Is going to be eventful! John and I are going to River Park (on the eve of New Moon's release, no less) for the first time as a vendor for their Christmas farmer's market of sorts. Arts and crafts vendors (like us) and farmers still selling produce (or donuts for some reason) are welcomed. If you live in Fresno and know someone struggling that is in this line of work, direct them to River Park on Friday night around 6pm to talk to the guy in charge.

But I'm so excited! We're going to be selling Intimate Journey: Battle Scars as well as buttons, bumper stickers, and poetry art (our main product). We want to make a nice gift affordable for Christmas for those struggling with the economy. California has been hit especially hard by its own political pomp aside from the federal farts. I just felt God calling me to do this--well, John and I (mostly John). =)
How are all of You?
Tell me! I've been out of the loop for a while.

Love,
=Amriah
